Farrukh Munshi - professional dog trainer and decoy

Farrukh Munshi is a professional dog trainer and decoy. He has been training dogs in the Bay Area for the past 5 years.

His start was a bit unique because he started out as the client. He had just gotten his first Malinios, Arya, with no idea what he was getting himself into. She was a COVID puppy and he was way in over his head with her. There weren’t too many options for trainers due to the pandemic at the time, and the one he did find he didn’t align with. After exhausting the resources available to him, he decided to hit the books. Farrukh started educating himself as much as possible through online courses and training videos to learn how to develop his own dog. He made a lot of mistakes along the way, but Farrukh says that developing Arya was one of the most challenging and influential experiences of his life.

Through that experience he wanted to continue to grow and challenge himself, so he started seeking out mentors who specialized in the niche that he was interested in. It was with their help and countless hours spent learning that he was able to find his identity as a trainer and further hone his craft.

Coming away from corporate America, he found his true passion when he transitioned to dog training and hasn’t looked back since. Farrukh’s experience ranges from working with redline cases that were on the euthanasia list, to working executive protection dogs, to developing strong confident puppies. Seeing amazing dogs reach their full potential is the most gratifying thing for Farrukh. It would be his honor to help you with your pup.

Tianna Raphael, MSc is a dog trainer and canine behaviorist. She completed her undergraduate degree at UC Davis and then went on to get Master’s degree at Bergin University of Canine Studies. Prior to that, she was a veterinary technician and accrued over 500 hours volunteering handling shelter dogs.

She has trained her personal dog, Kody, to excel at the job he was bred for. While the instincts and skill he has are all him and his genetics, having him be environmentally stable enough to work in cities and on farmland, not bothering livestock in a high arousal state and staying focused on the job no matter what is going on around him is something she is incredibly proud of. Kody is a dog that is on a lifelong behavioral management plan due to some genetic reactivity, and yet he is able to perform at a professional level for pest control. Kody is also titled in AKC, UKC, NASDA, and AOK9. He has done urban locating, shed hunt, lure coursing, terrier racing, fastCAT, CGC, trick dog, and UKC conformation.

Tianna has recently begun learning how to handle dogs in protection work. Handling Smoke has been a learning experience for her and built up her handling skills. You can know how to handle dogs very well, but there are specific techniques when handling a dog in bite work that are different than anything else. He is also quite a strong dog!

Tianna has helped clients with behavior modification for severe issues, especially with primitive and terrier breeds, as well as helped to train a service dog during her master’s program that is now a breeding dog for Bergin.

There is too much to encompass here, but these are some of the highlights of Tianna’s time so far with dogs.
